The Drawing Circus: Bosco Theatre
We returned to the Bosco Theatre to tell a tale in two parts: The Rise and The Fall of the Drawing Circus. During the Rise, Francesca's dress is constructed on her still figure as the characters of the Drawing Circus enter the circus ring and take their part on the tableau - the love triangle of Pierrot, Columbina and Harlequin giving rise to the birth of Katinka the Clown - a manifestation of jealous and spite; the lion and lion tamer representing the forces of chaos and order, the Strongwoman bringing stability, Carmella the showgirl bringing glamour and finally our Aerialist Naomi Wood bring a dose of magic and wonder to the night. The Fall sees that tableau collapse - the murder of Columbina sewing discord that erupts into chaos, with the arrival of Death in the guise of a life drawing tutor leading to the eventual return of Francesca, stripped bare, posing alone on the plinth.
