The Rise and Fall of the Drawing Circus
|
On the 22nd October 2017 we returned to our spiritual home, The Old Market in Brighton, for the launch of our national tour - a final Brighton performance of The Rise and Fall of the Drawing Circus. Telling the cyclical tale of the development of the Drawing Circus from lowly life class to a wild carnival of colours the Rise builds to a crescendo until descending into a chaotic Fall after the murder of Columbina by Mother of the Drawing Circus, Francesca Cluney. Stripped of her authority she is left still on the podium as she begun. With more than 100 people drawing for six hours and a host of new models, the event represented the culmination of a years worth of work and is captured here by Mary and Nick in a short film and series of photographs.
